Settings

The plugin’s settings are grouped the way they appear in Obsidian.

Todos and projects — where captured todos go, whether the Inbox lists unmanaged checkboxes, the catch-all note, and the default status for new and adopted todos.
Editing — keeping status headings in sync, Kanban drag on mobile, moving completed todos to the bottom, the inline todo trigger and what it does by default, whether capture opens the todo editor, checkbox styling and Smart Enter.
Advanced — showing the id capsule in the editor, and excluded folders.
Folder — where MarkTodo keeps its projects and archive, and whether archiving a project moves its note.
About — the version you are running, then links to MarkTodo’s Discord, X and these docs.
Companion app — what the Android app loses if you turn the plugin off. It reads the plugin’s settings out of your vault, so it keeps working; but settings you change here stop reaching it, and archived projects are no longer moved into the Archive folder. Uninstalling the plugin deletes the settings file — the app keeps its last copy, but a new install of the app would start from the defaults.
On this device — Lightweight mode or the full plugin, for this device only.
Appearance — an accent colour and a text size, and nothing else.
Layout — where the dashboard opens, one or two columns, and which side the navigation is on.

Appearance

MarkTodo paints no surfaces of its own. Backgrounds, text and borders are your Obsidian theme’s, in whatever light or dark you run it — there is no MarkTodo theme to pick and no light/dark switch to fall out of step with the vault around it. Two things are MarkTodo’s own:

Accent — any Flexoki hue (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple, Magenta or Base) or Obsidian’s own accent. It colours selection, links and buttons inside MarkTodo’s panes.
Text size — Smaller, Small, Default, Large or Larger. A multiplier on your theme’s sizes, inside MarkTodo’s panes and dialogs only, so your theme and your zoom still decide the baseline.

The status colours are fixed

Backlog is neutral, Warming yellow, Doing blue, Blocked red, Paused purple, Done green. They are fixed for the same reason the six names are: a heading should mean the same thing, and look the same, in every vault.

The palette is Flexoki, an inky palette by Steph Ango calibrated for legibility and perceptual balance across devices — which is what six colours have to do when you scan past them hundreds of times a day. MarkTodo takes its 600 step in light and its 400 step in dark, exactly what that palette prescribes for coloured text.
