MarkTodo manages todos and projects inside the notes you already keep in Obsidian. Six statuses, boards, due dates and an Android companion — all of it stored as checkboxes in your own.md files, which open in any editor on any device.

One line of Markdown
This is the entire data model.
No database, no project file format, nothing to export. A MarkTodo todo is a checkbox in a note you already own — and every feature attaches to that line, or not at all.

Six glyphs
A status you can read without the app open.
Most todo tools keep status in a field you cannot see. MarkTodo keeps it in the checkbox, so the note tells you the truth in any editor, on any device, forever.
Backlog
[ ]An ordinary Markdown checkbox. Every todo starts as one, whether or not MarkTodo has ever touched it.
Warming
[>]Next up, not started. The one status most todo apps make you fake with a tag or a due date.
Doing
[/]In flight right now. Obsidian's own themes already render a half-done checkbox for this glyph.
Blocked
[!]Waiting on someone else. It stays visible instead of rotting at the bottom of the list.
Paused
[-]Deliberately set down. Not abandoned, not urgent, and not cluttering today.
Done
[x]Closed out, and stamped with a done date the mobile app's Recent view reads back.
Two programs, one grammar
Written in Obsidian at the desk. Checked off on the bus.
The plugin and the app share the same parser and the same glyph geometry, copied between the two repositories on purpose. Neither one owns your todos; the folder does.

iOS is not built yet. If enough people want it, it gets built —say so in Discord.

Android app
Three panes, one swipe apart.
Your projects, the list you are in and the todo you are working on sit side by side. Opening either side slides the list over instead of covering it, so you never lose your place.

The short version
What MarkTodo does not do.
- No accountNothing to sign up for. There is no user record to create, because there is nowhere to create it.
- No sync serviceYour files sync however you already sync them — Obsidian Sync, Syncthing, Git, a cable. MarkTodo stays out of it.
- No databaseThe index is a cache. Delete it and it rebuilds from the notes, because the notes were always the truth.
- No lock-inUninstall it and you are left with Markdown checkboxes that every other editor already understands.
